TL;DR: Use React, Next.js, and Neon/Supabase to build open-source projects, not just for us, but for other hackathons too.
There are multiple projects we’ll be working on. One is the landing page, which means taking a premade Figma design and translating it into a website using Next.js and Tailwind CSS. Other projects include maintaining a judging platform for hackathons with room based judging. It’s built with Next.js and Supabase.
For this year, there is a lot of work to be done on the hacker management system. We plan to make it open source so other hackathons can use it too. This includes a native email campaign maker, a points based challenge system, and food scanning. One plan is to make it so that, in the admin dashboard, you can custom build the questions on the hacker/mentor/judges form.
For those with high agency, use this as an opportunity to build tools for hackathons that will be used by thousands of users.
TL;DR: Use Figma. Make Reels. Post on LinkedIn. Need I say more?
Marketing will be in charge of taking the premade assets from visual design and using Figma to make an Instagram campaign for the hackathon. This year, we want to switch toward a more minimalistic and luxurious page while maintaining the playful tone. Requests can be made for more assets from the visual design team. And, MAKING REEELLLSS
As for Growth, it is really about growing your own and the company’s LinkedIn page and X account. The locked in hackers are not on Instagram checking stories; they are building on X or posting on LinkedIn. Find them and get them to HC. Document our journey, make posts about the lessons we learned, and work closely with the directors.
You need a well established LinkedIn or X page to be competitive.
TL;DR: Project outline + Figma = Wireframe ⇒ Tech team
This team handles the design of all the core digital experiences: the RSVP page, landing page, email templates, etc. Basically, if it’s something the hacker sees or interacts with online, Product Design helps shape how it looks and feels. They work closely with Tech to make sure their designs are realistic and implementable.
TL;DR: Draw cute beavers
Use whatever platform you prefer to draw. We love all art styles: SVG, watercolor, animation, anything.
